Monsieur Verdoux
Charles Chaplin / US, 1947 / 124 min.
Controversial black comedy by Chaplin about the mild-mannered but cynical Henri Verdoux, who keeps on marrying rich women and then murdering them. He uses the money he obtains in this way to support his family. But two of the women prove less susceptible.
As all the greats from the history of film need revisiting from time to time, distributor Piece of Magic is re-releasing no less than nine (restored) films by the genius Charles Chaplin in international cinemas.
