Olga
Elie Grappe / FR, CH, UA, 2021 / 85 min.
15-year-old Ukrainian gymnast Olga is training in Switzerland for the European Championships. It is not safe back home in Kyiv, where her mother is protesting against the corrupt Yanukovych regime. Elie Grappe’s debut fiction feature is a fascinating coming-of-age tale set in the worlds of elite sport and activism.

During a turbulent period of political unrest in her home country, Ukrainian gymnast Olga relocates to Switzerland. There, she wants to hone her skills on the breakneck uneven bars and her spectacular acrobatic performances. She is hoping for a place in the Swiss national gymnastics team, as her late father was born in Switzerland.
We condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Proceeds from Olga's ticket sales will benefit the Support Filmmakers at War fundraiser for the makers of Babylon '13, a collective of documentary filmmakers in Ukraine, formed during the Maidan Revolution.
