Rocco e i suoi fratelli
Luchino Visconti / IT, FR, 1960 / 174 min.
Still burningly current saga about a family from the Italian South who want to start a new life in the industrial city Milan. Each of the episodes focuses on one of the five brothers. With fabulous acting from Alain Delon and Annie Girardot. Visconti's film inspired Ivo van Hove to create the play Rocco and His Brothers. See the exhibition All About Theatre About Film.
One cold winter’s day, a mother and her four sons arrive in Milan. They have travelled there to meet up with the fifth son who already moved from the poor South of Italy. The family try to build a better life in a small, run-down flat.
