Suzy Q
Martin Koolhoven / NL, 1999 / 82 min.
Debut films can launch careers. Martin Koolhoven’s first feature-length fiction film, made for TV with a screenplay by Frouke Fokkeman, stood out. Together with actor Roeland Fernhout he will talk about making the film ahead of the screening.
Carice van Houten was 21 when she put in a convincing performance as 16-year-old Suzy. Martin Koolhoven was 30 and also convinces with his film of the script by writer Frouke Fokkema, who equally convincingly evokes the world of a headstrong young woman in sixties Amsterdam.
