The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli Mäki
Juho Kuosmanen / FI, DE, SE, 2016 / 92 min.
This tender, melancholy biopic follows a short period in the life of Finnish boxer Olli Mäki. In 1962, he fought to become featherweight champion of the world, but this shy boxer was troubled by the media hype and heroic status this involved.

Olli Mäki is an introverted Finnish boxer who in 1962 took on the American world champion in the featherweight class. While training for the fight, he feels ever more burdened by the heroic status and media hype being whipped up around him by his ambitious manager. In bittersweet, tragicomic scenes we see how he becomes increasingly withdrawn.
