Shy New York-based actor Edward’s face is deformed by neurofibromatosis. When he falls in love with aspiring playwright Ingrid (Renate Reinsve, The Worst Person in the World) he decides to undergo a radical, experimental drug therapy which should heal his condition and enable him to adopt a new identity. After a Cronenberg-like transformation, the handsome, reborn Edward starts a new life.
