On a remote, yet idyllic farm in Norway’s forests, the Payne family lives a wild, free, self-supporting life. Maria and Nik homeschool their children Ulv, Falk, Freja and Ronja and strive to be a tight-knit family living in harmony with nature. A tragic event brings their paradisiacal life to an abrupt end, forcing the family to take a new route towards the modern world and all the expectations that entails.
