Thai director Ratchapoom Boonbunchachoke’s hotly debated debut film, this story of a man whose wife reincarnates as a vacuum cleaner – a mix of fantasy, comedy and romance, with a sharp undertone of social commentary – won the Critics’ Week Grand Prize in Cannes.
Following her death, Nat returns to her loving husband, March, in a most hygienic way: as a high-end vacuum cleaner. Much to the dismay of March’s uptight, entrepreneurial family, who have just had to close their factory down due to a ghost infestation. Nat manages to win them over by cleaning the ghosts from the factory: this turns out to be the first step in her new career as a ghost-hunter.
