Abel

Alex van Warmerdam / NL, 1985 / 103 min.

Alex van Warmerdam’s feature film debut was widely acclaimed for its acting performances, hyper-stylized art direction and absurdist mood. Van Warmerdam himself plays the title role of Abel, a thirty-one year old who still lives at home and picks on his parents. The film won a Golden Calf for Best Feature Film and Best Director. Screened to mark the exhibition devoted to Van Warmerdam.
