Akira

Katsuhiro Ôtomo / JP, 1988 / 124 min.

Akira was the first film to introduce the beauty of Japanese animation (anime) to Western cinema audiences. The compelling story of Japan's nuclear bomb trauma, the superb animation and the unique industrial soundtrack made the film a classic.
