Eye on Art: All About One Last Evening - Filmmaking at the Price of a Fat Bike
Advance premiere of Letzter Abend, with a discussion and Meet & Greet with director Lukas Nathrath. Letzter Abend is a gently humorous, at times melancholy exploration of the expectations and neuroses of millennials.

Director Lukas Nathrath is a young, independent maker who with an incredibly low budget has made a film crackling with the love of cinema and working with a creative ensemble.
He will talk about how he worked with the actors, the role of improvisation and how the cameraman had to navigate his way around the actors in the tiny apartment that is the set of Letzter Abend. He stresses the importance of a well-thought-out script.
Letzter Abend shows how young makers starting out can take control of their own lives and work.

Letzter Abend
Clemens, a moderately successful singer-songwriter plagued by self-doubt, and Lisa, a junior doctor, decide to bid farewell to their life in Hannover. The young thirty-somethings are up for a new challenge, and Berlin calls.
Before leaving – the coronavirus restrictions have just been lifted – they plan a dinner party for their close friends, where the wine will flow freely. It will be relaxed, carefree, the starting signal for a new life. But when none of their friends show up, and instead uninvited guests – and even total strangers – gather around the table, the evening takes a very different, less festive turn.
Honest, humorous
Debut director Lukas Nathrath shot Letzter Abend in just one week, on location. From the resulting scenes, filmed under great pressure, he has forged an honest, gently humorous, at times melancholy exploration of the expectations and neuroses of millennials: the generation that came of age in the early 2010s.
