Andiamo a bere l'ultima

Francesco Sossai / IT, 2025 / 100 min.

Charming tragi-comedy road movie in Commedia all’italiana-style. Two unhappy Italian men undertake a road trip across the plains surrounding Venice to give a slightly naïve architecture student new vigour. Winner of eight David di Donatello Awards.

Things aren’t looking good for Carlobianchi – still wearing that leather jacket – and Doriano, both in their 50s. They are almost broke and the two grifters haven’t been able to set up a successful financial fraud since the 2008 financial crisis. During an alcohol-fuelled road trip across the plains surrounding Venice they meet shy architecture student Giulio, who has lost his way in life. They drag him along and their funny, unsolicited advice provide him with a refreshing view on life and love.

Supporting film

Before Andiamo a bere l'ultima, you will see the short film The Dream of a Rarebit Fiend (8') from 1906, by Wallace McCutcheon and Edwin S. Porter. It is a fantasy film that warns of the dangers of alcohol. Excessive drinking leads to a headache, a hangover, and wild, chaotic visions featuring little devils and flying statues.
