Ayka

Sergei Dvortsevoy / RU, DE, KZ, PL, CN, 2018 / 110 min.

It took director Sergey Dvortsevoy ten years to come up with his second feature film following Tulpan (2008) – winner of two prestigious awards at Cannes and distributed by the Filmmuseum at the time. Ayka is a stark portrait of a young Kyrgyzian woman trying to hold on to life in the Moscow metropolis. She has to try and survive in a country where a growing army of have-nots populate the cities.
