Two lost souls on the edge of the Gobi Desert: a former criminal becomes friends with a black stray dog an takes on the local gangsters. Hu Guan’s gritty, slightly absurd western noir won the Un Certain Regard prize at the Cannes Film Festival.

After his release from prison, former rock star Lang realises there is little left of his home town on the edge of the Gobi Desert. The houses are being torn down, industry has almost all disappeared and armies of stray dogs terrorise the streets. Lang himself is forced to make ends meet.
