Cinemini: The Gruffalo's Child

This month Eye presents The Gruffalo’s Child, the sequel to The Gruffalo, in our Cinemini theatre specially designed for our youngest viewers. Once again, there’s a Big Scary Animal that takes centre stage...

The Gruffalo's child leaves her cosy den and ventures out into the wood looking for the Big Bad Mouse. Dad told her what the monster looks like: it has fiery eyes, a long scaly tail and hard, wiry whiskers.

Peaceful and exciting

It's peaceful and beautiful in the snowy woods, but sometimes things can also get a bit exciting. Where is the Big Scary Mouse? He's nowhere to be found. At last, when the Gruffalo's child has given up hope, she meets the mouse. Is he really all that Big and Scary?

Thrilling scenes alternate with funny and quiet ones in this wonderful short animated film. Mind you: this is no film for scared little mice!

Soothing narrator

The film is based on the children's book of the same name. The story of the mouse and the Gruffalo is told by a quiet narrator's voice. It's the voice of Mother Squirrel telling her children a bedtime story. The vocabulary is simple and the rhyme flows easily, as it does in the book.

With a Dutch voice-over.

Cinemini

Eye’s finest and most intimate film theatre is a great place for children aged 2 to 6 to experience their first cinema visit. Every Sunday morning, Eye’s Cinemini opens especially for preschoolers and their (grand)parents, where children are treated to a film, followed by experiments with light and shadow in small play tents.
