In this short film programme, moderator Evanne Nowak talks to filmmakers and the audience about emotions associated with climate change: fear, anger, sadness, shame, a 
sense of powerlessness.

Instead of talking only about facts, numbers and technical solutions, the moderator asks to allow confusion and feelings of loss. And not to run away from the feelings, because they are a sign of our commitment and a step toward solidarity with the climate and non-human others.

Film directors have used fiction to show how humanity relates to nature, in every genre. Think, for instance, of disaster films, ones about pandemics, underwater creatures that can talk or plant-based life forms who colonise the minds and bodies of earth’s inhabitants.

Electro-acoustic duo Wanderwelle, Morgan Knibbe,  and acclaimed experimental filmmaker Bruce Conners imagine the end of time… In Cinema Ecologica: three nuclear nightmares, two of which take place in the past and one in the future.

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, soldiers unknowingly exposed to nuclear radiation and the American atomic bomb test on Bikini Island: this Cinema Ecologica special looks at key moments in human history.

Swapping is a brilliant alternative to consuming. This is why Eye and Fashion for Good are organising a great clothing swap. At the Clothing Swap, you can come and swap clothes and accessories you no longer wear, but that are still in tip-top condition.

As well as being fun and satisfying the urge to splurge on some retail therapy, clothing swaps also contribute to a cleaner environment. And save you money! There is no entry fee, but we ask that you reserve a place by ordering a free ticket, so we know roughly how many people to expect. The Clothing Swap will take place on Tuesday 25 October in Eye's IJlounge, and starts at 17:00. After the Clothing Swap, at 19:15 in Cinema 2 Film, Future, Fashion starts: a programme of short fashion films from Eye's archive, as well as a presentation sustainable fashion made from materials such as apple peel or mushroom leather, or even from ones and zeroes. The speaker will be Dolly Vellanki, one of the <a href="https://fashionforgood.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Fashion for Good Museum</a>’s innovation experts. We can’t wait! Short fashion films from Eye's collection and film clips that are a feast for the eye, make us laugh and at the same time get us thinking about the fashion industry. Tonight’s speaker is Dolly Vellanki, one of the innovation experts at the Fashion for Good Museum.

Dolly Vellanki talks about a future when we will wear clothing made from materials such as apple peel and mushroom leather, or even from ones and zeroes. This presentation follows the <a href="https://www.eyefilm.nl/en/whats-on/clothing-swap/799216" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Clothing Swap</a> at 17:00. Future of fashion The future of fashion must prepare itself for the rapidly digitising world. Advances in digital design, new forms of consumer engagement and digital-only fashion experiences are changing the relationship we have with fashion and fashion brands. In this session, we will talk about the need and challenges when digitising fashion and its supply chain, and get introduced to some impressive innovations in this space. As a takeaway, we will explore how to engage with fashion in new ways. The future of fashion is also being redefined by new and alternative materials, such as mycelium and agriwaste. We will explore innovations in the space of bio-based and man-made materials. As a takeaway, we will discuss some key material questions to ask yourself as consumers. Dolly Vellanki Dolly Vellanki is an Innovation Analyst at Fashion for Good, a global platform for sustainable fashion innovation. Dolly is responsible for scouting, screening and scaling innovators developing solutions that accelerate digital transformation strategies, such as design, virtual fashion experiences, digital fashion, and more. She also orchestrates the Sorting for Circularity Europe Project, which brings instrumental stakeholders across the industry to advance the necessary infrastructure for collecting, sorting, and recycling post-consumer textiles.
