Cocorico! Monsieur Poulet
Jean Rouch / NE, FR, 1974 / 93 min.
The world of magic and fantasy come alive in this fable about the perseverance required when fate and the devils are against you. And, more importantly to overcome all the obstacles you encounter driving a clapped-out 2CV car across Niger in good humour.

This French-Nigerian road trip was shot on 16 mm in and around Niamey, Niger and much of it was improvised by Dalarou, a pseudonym for Damouré Zika, Lam Ibrahim Dia and Jean Rouch. Their cinema is one of friendship and you can see that they love making films. The film is neither fiction, nor documentary, but a genre unto itself: ethnofiction.
