Pedro Almodóvar / ES, 2019 / 113 min.
There comes a moment in the life of every great director when he wants to look back on his career. Fellini did so with Otto e mezzo, Pedro Almodóvar follows suit with his latest feature film Dolor y gloria. Star actor Antonio Banderas as Salvador Mallo portrays the life of a filmmaker who came into his own in 1980s Spain. Drugs, sex, rock ’n’ roll and film – lots of film: Mallo allows himself to be flooded by memories.
Banderas won the Best Actor Award at Cannes, Penélope Cruz is magnificent as Mallo”s mother.
