Maak je eigen flipboek: Technische snufjes

Filmmagie: Technische snufjes

In this family workshop, you'll create your own flipbook, exploring the movement of images. Before the workshop, you'll watch a film program featuring six short animated films from the Eye collection.

This time around, Filmmagie focuses on technical gadgets. The short animations provide inspiration for the flipbooks they will make during the workshop.

  • still Jack (Quentin Haberham, NL 2014)

Jack (Quentin Haberham, NL 2014, 3')

  • still Aeronaut (Leon Golterman, NL 2021)

Aeronaut (Leon Golterman, NL 2021, 2,')

10-year-old Kevin’s dad is aggressive, yet his son dreams of becoming a pilot so he and his kid sister Jaimy can escape. However, one day his brotherly love is sorely tested when his sister gets hold of his new model airplane.

  • still Refreshment (Johan Rijpma, NL 2014)

Refreshment (Johan Rijpma, NL 2014, 3')

  • still Mijn moeder is een vliegtuig / My Mom is an Airplane! (Yulia Aronovo, RU 2013)

My Mom is an Airplane (Yulia Aronovo, RU 2013, 7')

Dreamy film about a boy and his unusual mother. She is... an airplane! Together they embark on adventures high in the sky.

  • still Descent (Johan Rijpma, NL 2014)

Descent (Johan Rijpma, NL 2014, 2')

A cylindrical mug falls, then breaks into pieces. Every frame in this footage is then manually translated into a ceramic layer made from the remnants of the broken mug. All these layers are glued together, creating a new object. However, then gravity shifts leading to this new object falling and breaking. The cycle continues by translating destructive moments into higher-dimensional shapes.

  • still Mr Hublot (Laurent Witz & Alexandre Espigares, LU/FR 2014)

Mr Hublot (Laurent Witz & Alexandre Espigares, LU/FR 2014, 11')

Mr Hublot lives in a world in which everything and everyone largely consists of mechanical parts. The reclusive Mr Hublot is scared of all the changes and the big, bad outside world. He prefers to stay indoors in his cosy apartment, however, the arrival of the dog Robot Pet makes everything different, upending the bourgeois little man’s life.

    Make your own flipbook (30')

After the film programme, you can make your own flip book in the cinema. A flip book is a little book with a small drawing that changes a tiny bit on each page. When you flip through the pages of the book with your thumb, these drawings zoom past really fast. The individual pictures blur together like a film. So with your flip book you are really making your own mini-animated film!

Not suitable for children’s parties. Children must be accompanied.
