Documentary about the founder of the Fluxus movement, George Maciunas. The designer and artist viewed official, museum and gallery art as a dead artefact and was in favour of joyous events, actions and interventions that turned daily life into art and vice versa.
Lithuanian born George Maciunas (1931 - 1978) made a name for himself in the USA as the founder of the radical, avant-garde Fluxus movement. This documentary follows the idiosyncratic, erudite iconoclast who, during the 1960s and 1970s, created an international network of artists, filmmakers, musicians and poets including famous names such as Nam June Paik, Yoko Ono, Joseph Beuys, Henry Flynt and Dutchman Wim T. Schippers. With their provocative performances, readymades, events, concerts and printed materials Fluxus artists dissolved the boundaries between art and life.
