Portrait drenched in life experience of an American family facing a host of emotional issues that need addressing. By chance, father Dan becomes involved with an amateur dramatic group – what happens on stage gradually starts to hold up a mirror to Dan’s life offstage.
Construction worker Dan has enough on his plate trying to bring up his all-but-unmanageable teenage daughter, as well as a long-running court case against the ex-girlfriend of his deceased son Brian. Dan tends to bottle it all up inside; then, when the problems get too much, they come bursting out in the form of violent rages.
