Goodfellas
Martin Scorsese / US, 1990 / 145 min.
Scorsese shows the lure of a criminal lifestyle on an Irish-Italian boy in East Brooklyn, a working-class neighbourhood in New York. Between 1955 and 1980 Henry Hill (Ray Liotta) rises through the ranks to become mafia boss, only to end in coke-riddled delusions of grandeur. De Niro (Jimmy Conway) watches over him, but is unable to prevent Hill’s downfall.
