Ali Abassi based himself for his second feature film on a short story of the same name by the Swedish thriller writer John Ajvide Lindqvist. A previous novel by Lindqvist inspired the cult vampire film Let the Right One In. The film Gräns (Border) revolves around the curiously magical world of customs officer Tina. Physically deformed, she has a superhuman sense of smell. Then she meets fellow misfit Vore, a man with a mysterious aura.
Gräns (Border) won the Un Certain Regard award at Cannes.
