The Secret of the Saramacca River is the first production of the Surinamese Film Academy, founded by Pim de la Parra. A film about the return to the motherland. Astrid Roemer co-wrote the screenplay.

The Secret of the Saramacca River is part of Pepr, a collaboration between streaming service Picl and distributor Full Color Entertainment.
