Hit the Road
Panah Panahi / IR, 2021 / 93 min.
As the son of a famous Iranian filmmaker persecuted by the government, Panah Panahi hesitated to follow his vocation. His debut film – indebted to the work both of his father and another legend of Iranian cinema, Abbas Kiarostami – takes the viewer on an unforgettable road trip.

An Iranian family of four and their dog are travelling by car towards the Turkish border. The oldest son is driving. Alongside him sits his mother; in the back the youngest son and the father, his leg in plaster.
Pre-show
Before the main film, you will see the short film (5') Renault 5 by Kaweh Modiri from 2014. This pre-film is set in the 1980s and is told from the perspective of the youngest son. An Iranian family, newly immigrated to the Netherlands, tries to go to a family gathering in their Renault 5, but that is not without a struggle.
