London, 1984. Somewhat eccentric single mother Cynthia is living with her seven-year-old daughter Maria in a house bursting at the seams with found objects. Cynthia works nights, but during the day she roams the streets with Maria, picking up everything and anything she thinks might prove useful in making a safe home for her daughter.
