Holy Electricity
Tato Kotetishvili / NL, GE, 2024 / 95 min.
These fabulous, absurd vignettes hold the middle ground somewhere between Aki Kaurismäki's tender, dry humour and Wes Anderson’s love of stylised details. Tato Kotetishvili creates his own world in this story of two hustlers in Tblisi selling rusty crucifixes as works of art.

Amid Tbilisi’s colourful chaos, two charming hustlers, the young Gonga (debutant Nika Gongadze) and his cousin Bart (trans activist Nikolo Ghviniashvili) have their lives change dramatically when they find a suitcase full of rusty crucifixes at a landfill site and have a bright idea. Using a pinch of neon, they turn the crucifixes into small, electric artworks that they try to sell door to door in the city.
