MovieZone: KinoTalk Home Where It All Begins
Second edition of MovieZone: Kino Talk, led by Thaniel Owusu Agyemang, aka Kala Cité. An inspirational evening with the screening of a film about Kala Cité’s first trip to Ghana, as well as conversation and music in the run-up to Ghana Independence Day. Admission free.

The second edition of MovieZone: KinoTalk takes place on 5 March in Eye Filmmuseum, in cooperation with Sankofa Archives and Free The Art.
This special edition will be led by Thaniel Owusu Agyemang, also known as Kala Cité: DJ, photographer, Creative Director and founder of Sankofa Archives, the platform he uses to study cultural identities and collect information.
The Sankofa idea
The film he has chosen film is Cité’s personal report on a trip to Ghana. A journey that was of immense significance to Cité and which gave him the opportunity to probe his own identity, make connections with his country of origin and put into practice the Sankofa idea, which derives from a saying in the Twi language of the Akan tribe referring to the necessity of knowing where you come from and translates to something like: “Go back and get it”.
The screening of the film will be followed by an in-depth discussion with Cité and other artists on themes including identity, heritage and cultural connections.
You can then round off the evening in Eye Bar & Restaurant with drinks and music that celebrate and complement the film.
Doors open at 19:15. Admission to this exceptional evening is free, but you’ll need to sign up using this RSVP link.
