Hysteria
Mehmet Akif Büyükatalay / DE, 2025 / 104 min.
When a burned Quran is found on a film set, the shoot takes a dark turn. 24-year-old intern Elif becomes embroiled in a dangerous game of secrets and lies, finding themselves at the centre of an all-encompassing conspiracy.
Hysteria, that premiered at the Berlin Film Festival last year, is a tense, layered thriller about prejudices, identity and the representation of ‘the other’ in western media. The film’s exciting plot combines acute social criticism and challenges dominant narratives all whilst keeping you on the edge of your seat.
