Five college students become the target of a highway sniper in classic slasher.

Downrange poster

Five college students travel to a weekend camping out when on a deserted highway, they have a tire blowout. While changing the wheel, one of them sees a bullet falling out of the tire. It soon emerges that there is a sniper somewhere, and his targets are not just car tires. Classic slasher goes all out on gore and shocks.

Kitamura (Versus, No One Lives) brings the slasher genre down to the absolute basics: five young people trapped, one invisible killer. He does play around with genre clichés a little bit, but in general, he sticks to blood and gore - and more blood and gore. In between the shootings, the five targets think of ways to escape their tormentor. Here too, the director joyfully plays around with genre tropes and stereotypes. Kitamura makes great use of the open space and the blazing sun - the five all fully exposed and having nowhere to go. The ending brings a twist to top off this late night popcorn gorefest.
