It Was Just an Accident
Jafar Panahi / IR, FR, LU, 2025 / 103 min.
Jafar Panahi's revenge thriller won the Golden Palm in Cannes. An Iranian man is seeking revenge against the person who tortured him – but what if he’s kidnapped the wrong man? Panahi melds moral dilemmas, comic moments and shocking revelations into an exceptionally powerful film.

In It Was Just an Accident a minor accident leads to a chain reaction of escalating problems. The road thriller begins with a bump in the road that slightly damages the car of a man with a noticeably squeaky prosthetic leg. When he takes his car in for repairs, garage owner Vahid becomes convinced it's the officer who tortured him years ago in prison.
