La niña santa
Lucrecia Martel / NL, AR, ES, IT, 2004 / 106 min.
Some films are masterpieces that defy conventions and deserve to be watched more than once. This is also true for Martel’s second feature film, which is once again situated in the provincial town of Salta, a place for quietly humorous, baffling or long-standing mysterious events.

Amalia, played by an enigmatically blushing Alché, is a young teenager who lives in Salta. Her impeccable Catholic upbringing and education and her awakening sexuality will need to be reconciled. Her best friend Josefina has the same feelings, but they can only whisper about them. Amalia's mother Helena is the owner of a classic but slightly derelict hotel that is hosting a medical conference.
