Former war reporter Jacques is sent by the Vatican to the southeast of France where 18-year-old Anna claims to have seen the Virgin Mary. Thousands of pilgrims are already flocking to the scene of the miracle. Xavier Giannoli’s seventh feature film is an intense portrait of a conscientious journalist trying to unravel fact from fiction.
For the soundtrack Giannoli turned to compositions by the Estonian composer Arvö Part, whose subtle sacred music enhances the film”s atmosphere.
