Cairo during the First World War. Lieutenant T.E. Lawrence (Peter O'Toole) is bored of the sleepy town. Then has a sudden insight: wouldn’t it be a good idea to unite the Arab tribes in revolt against their Ottoman overlords, which just happens to be the British Empire’s arch enemy?
