Let the Music Dance

Pim de la Parra / NL, 1990 / 93 min.

It’s some job: trying to compose a European anthem with a tax inspector getting in your way.  Composer Adam (Boudewijn de Groot) manages to hold his own in the face of chaos, impecuniousness and a surfeit of girls. It took De la Parra five days to shoot this minimal movie, a jazzy portrait of Amsterdam’s laid-back life style in the late 1980s. Hans Dulfer and Ben Cramer star in memorable supporting roles, Paul Ruven acted as assistant director. With an introduction by Pim de la Parra and producer Sherman de Jesus.
