Los colonos
Felipe Gálves Haberle / CL, AR, GB, TW, DE, 2023 / 97 min.
Felipe Gálves Haberle’s lauded feature debut examines the bloody history of Chile through the frame of the Western. The native peoples of Patagonia were decimated to make way for ‘white gold’: herds of sheep. A story that has never been told.
Tierra del Fuego, 1901. Wild West capitalist Don José Menéndez wants a passage to the Atlantic Ocean for his herds of sheep. Three men will set off on an expedition to fence off land and ensure that the native inhabitants, the ‘indígenas’, no longer eat the sheep, as Don José claims.
