To mark the pre-premiere of Our Little Sister, released in theatres on September, EYE is programming Maborosi, Kore-eda’s much-lauded feature film debut of 1995. His carefully balanced tale of fragile domestic happiness belongs to a tradition of great Japanese filmmaking which has produced directors like Yasujirō Ozu. The film is screened as part of EYE’s Japan programme.
