Maria
Pablo Larrain / IT, DE, CL, US, 2024 / 123 min.
Pablo Larraín investigates the life and struggles of a female celebrity. Angelina Jolie plays Maria Callas, the much worshipped opera star and diva who had a very unlucky love life. The final part of the trilogy including the lives of Jackie Onassis and Lady Di.

In 1974, Maria Callas provided her final recital of her farewell tour. The audience cheered, begging the passionately adored opera star to return. Callas had however made her decision: she retreated – after a previous farewell in the mid-1960s – forever to her stylish Paris apartment accompanied by a butler and cook. There she looked back on her life that had been marked by her unconditional love for her art and for the love of her life, the shipping magnate Aristoteles Onassis.
