Tsai will reflect on his recent works and projects in this masterclass and share his thoughts on his experiences developing, making and screening his work.

Tsai Ming-liang (1957) revitalised cinematic language by purely relying on the power of the image. He subtly shows that loneliness is the price we pay for our consumerism. Everybody yearns in silence, but the longing for real contact is rarely fulfilled.

retrospective

In addition to Tsai's latest VR work The Deserted Eye offers a retrospective of Tsai”s works, an oeuvre spanning almost 25 years. Eye also releases digital restorations of Tsai”s first three films to theatres across the Netherlands: Rebels of the Neon God (1992), Vive l”amour (1994) and The River (1997).
