Me and You and Everyone We Know
Miranda July / US, GB, 2005 / 90 min.
Miranda July’s feature debut immediately won a slew of festival awards. The story of a lonely artist-cum-taxi driver and a divorced shoe salesman stood out with its laconic tone and quirky characters, all of whom are looking for love and friendship.

‘Me and you and everyone we know’ – in Miranda July’s world, this consists of: a timid conceptual artist who’s trying to sell her videotape to a stuck-up gallery owner; a recently divorced shoe salesman who sets his hand on fire on the day he and his ex are to divide their property; and another salesman who expresses his sexual desires through signs stuck to the window.
