Minoes (25th Anniversary)

Miss Minoes wears a green skirt suit with kitten heels, and likes to climb trees. She also claims she can talk to cats – in fact, she even purrs, gives head bumps and prefers sleeping curled up in a cardboard box.

Miss Minoes is weird – Mr Tibbe (Theo Maassen), a journalist with the local paper, the Killendoornse Courant, also thinks so. But: Miss Minoes knows everything about everything that happens in town, which is extremely useful to journalist Tibbe, whose job as a roving reporter is under threat. So before long Minoes is his personal assistant, helping him in his quest for news.

Director Vincent Bal recruited Carice van Houten and Theo Maassen for the lead roles of Minoes and Tibbe. They proved to be a good team, bringing pace and colour to Annie M.G. Schmidt’s story.
