No funeral, no farewell – just a house full of memories: a diving accident turns into an incomprehensible loss. Merel avoids her husband’s death and everything related to it. This leads to her young children becoming entangled in their search for answers, finally resulting in the family grinding to a halt. Merel has no option but to accept the loss of her husband in her own unique way so they can start a new life, together.

Pre-film

Before the screening of the main film, you will see Stand-By Me (2013, 8'). This short film by Martijn de Jong, also director of Narcosis, is about elderly Willem, who begins to behave increasingly strangely. His wife Johanna surrenders as best she can to Willem's whims, but actually wants him to sit next to her on the couch. Where does Willem's behavior suddenly come from? And most importantly, where is it going?
