Programme

  • Eye on Art Dark Matter Justin Bentvelsen NL 2026

Dark Matter (Justin Bentvelsen, NL 2026, 13’)

Dark Matter pulls you into a captivating journey through mysterious landscapes to witness the creation of super-technology. From mining rare earth metals to forging the chip—the brain of all modern technological devices—the film explores the complex relationship between mankind, nature, and the digital age. But nothing is as it seems on this unsettling trip. The film treads a fine line between the wondrously beautiful and the completely disturbing. What are the consequences of our obsession with technological progress? The mesmerising landscapes are handcrafted models, built largely from electronic waste. Immerse yourself in the ominous and enthralling world of Dark Matter.

  • Eye on Art Burnt Toast Helen Anna Flanagan NL GB 2025

Burnt Toast (Helen Anna Flanagan, NL/GB 2025, 25’)

A contemporary ghost story that resurrects legendary British comedian Tommy Cooper, who famously died mid-performance in 1984. Combining machine learning, VHS, archival materials and a trained impersonator, the film follows Phil, an unemployed magician trapped in the decaying home of the director’s late schizophrenic uncle. Phil’s hallucinatory act explores social class, identity, mental health, and delusion—punctuated by Cooper’s trademark jokes and failed magic tricks.

  • Eye on Art Echoes Between Seeing 2 Nan Wang NL 2025

Echoes Between Seeing #2 (Nan Wang, NL 2025, 8’)

Echoes Between Seeing #2 blurs the boundaries between the real and the generative, the seen and the imagined. Combining analogue noise textures, 16mm film grain, travel fragments, and AI-driven synthesis, the film explores how perception stitches together fragments of experience. Hybridised landscapes emerge—neither human nor artificial, neither documentation nor hallucination—inviting viewers into a shifting space of in-betweenness. Here, meaning is constructed not through fixed representation but through flux, where memory and imagination shape what we see.

  • Eye on Art Do You Know That Im With You Darya Andijan NL 2026

Do You Know That I’m With You (Darya Andijan, NL 2026, 23’)

As they travel across Central Asia, Darya evokes Gülem, a forgotten goddess of carpet weaving from the Uyghur region, and pieces together Gülem’s fragmented beings. Through poetic voices, shared rituals, and ancestral echoes, they explore together the themes of feminism, oppression and colonial erasure.
