Nickel Boys tells the story of Elwood Curtis, a young African-American boy who, due to systemic racism during the '60s, ends up at the infamous Nickel Academy, where his hopes and ideals are severely put to the test. This film gives us a penetrating insight into racial inequality in the past, and in so doing makes a link to the urgent social issues of today.
