Opening Feministisch Filmkollektief Cinemien
Introductions, conversations, excerpts from films, theatre and the screening of Barbara Meter’s recently restored film Honderd beledigingen per dag (1978) set the tone on the opening night of ‘Feministisch Filmkollektief Cinemien’ on International Women’s Day.

Feministisch Filmkollektief Cinemien (1974 – 1989) was founded 50 years ago during the second wave of feminism’s heyday. In the Netherlands, Cinemien fulfilled a pioneering role and developed into a leading international distributor of feminist films.
The opening night will delve into Cinemien’s exceptional history in the international women’s movement and the screening and distribution industries. The accompanying programme will be screened until 26 March 2025.
Beauty Ideals
The evening will feature historic footage, short films and excerpts from titles in Cinemien’s catalogue at the time, alongside conversations and commentary.
Eye’s recent restoration of Barbara Meter’s documentary Honderd beledigingen per dag (1978, 30') will also premiere during the opening. This Cinemien film arose from the anger elicited by the portrayal of women in advertising.
Afterwards, there will be a drinks reception Eye’s foyer.
The opening's lingua franca will be Dutch.
