The latest film by László Nemes (Son of Saul, Sunset) focuses on the life of a Jewish family in Budapest after the 1956 uprising, seen through the eyes of 11-year-old Andor. A haunting portrait of life in Communist Hungary.
Andor lives with his mother in the family home in Budapest. He’s still awaiting the return of his father, Hirsch, about whom he’s heard so many stories from his mother, Klára. Eleven years on from the liberation of the camps, however, there’s still no sign of Hirsch.
