Dutch-Afghani filmmaker Dawood re-establishes contact with his authoritarian father, Baba, an imam with a violent past, to process their highly charged history. To bridge the gap between them, Dawood leaves Amsterdam to undertake a journey with Baba that examines the latter’s past in Afghanistan, Iran and Iraq. Places scarred by religion, violence, exile and return. Wandering the ruins of memory uncovers layers of intergenerational trauma, resilience and unexpressed love.
