Passage, The
Roberto Minervini / US, BE, 2011
The Passage is a road movie about two people who have nothing in common except for the fact that they have nothing to lose. She has just been told there’s no cure for her cancer. He has just been released from prison and desperately needs cash. Minervini again managed to achieve an extraordinary mix of drama and documentary by working with non-professional locals, this time drifters wanting to escape and be free.

The Passage (2011), Low Tide (2012) and Stop the Pounding Heart together make up Minervini”s “Texas trilogy” – films in which the Italian-born filmmaker documents the lives of Americans who hardly seem to have a share in the American Dream. Minervini's latest film The Other Side (2015) is also featured in the programme.
