Past Lives
Celine Song / US, KR, 2023 / 105 min.
What remains of teenage love if you haven’t seen each other for 25 years? Past Lives subtly outlines the meeting of Nora who moved to New York and Hae Sung from Seoul. Much lauded, slightly autobiographical film by playwright Celine Song.
When Nora was still known as Ne Young and went to primary school in Seoul, she had deep feelings for her classmate Hae Sung. The latter was left behind when Nora moved to Canada. Many years later, Nora has become a promising playwright in New York, when she finds out Hae Sung is trying to get in touch on Facebook. The two start talking at length, but suddenly Nora breaks off contact.
Pre-film
Before the screening of Past Lives, you will see the ultra-short animated film Koet by Marlies van der Wel about the skipper of a ferry who suddenly finds himself without customers due to the arrival of a new bridge. A coot looking for things to build a nest offers a solution in this animation.
