Peacock

Bernhard Wenger / AT, DE, 2024 / 102 min.

Lightly absurd feature debut by Austrian director Bernhard Wenger sketches the life of Matthias, an employee of My Companion. He is rented out as the perfect companion in any situation: loving son or date, for example. But who is Matthias really?

Why waste time and effort searching for the perfect companion to accompany you to all your various social commitments? My Companion will find the ideal partner for every occasion – for a suitable fee, of course.

A man who’s the ideal friend, father, son or even sparring partner for you; a man like Matthias, one of My Companion’s star employees. He prepares meticulously for each and every role; he is able to read people like no one else and responds seamlessly to required expectations, whether as the date of an opera-loving older lady, a loving son or even a practice partner for a woman who wants to learn how to quarrel with your spouse.

Preliminary film

Before the screening of Peacock, you can watch the short film La moda vuole l'ala larga (5') from 1912 from the Eye collection. Short comedy silent film about a man who wants to keep up with fashion by buying an exceptionally large hat, but soon he causes all sorts of accidents.
